Gun Laws

This is not meant to provide legal advice. You may download a copy of the Arizona Revised Statute Title 13, Chapter 31 from www.azleg.state.az.us or consult an attorney. Laws are subject to change at any time. Federal laws concerning munitions supersede state law. Other laws concerning armaments may exist outside Title 13.

Firearms and ammo are not allowed in Mexico.
Possession of even one bullet can have serious repercussions.

Open Carry Law
- You may carry firearms loaded or unloaded, throughout Arizona, subject to the following restrictions. If your firearm is readily accessible for immediate use, the means of conveyance must reasonably place others on notice that you are armed. (Conveyance means in a holster, gun case, or other device for carrying a firearm). If you carry a firearm and don’t have a concealed weapon permit, the statute says that the firearm must be at least partially visible or in a belt
holster that is at least partially visible.

Prohibited Places
- Any public establishment or public event; a polling place; a nuclear or hydro-electric generating station; on school grounds or within 1,000 feet of school grounds; in a place licensed to serve alcohol; a Federal facility; except while hunting or for other legal reason; in a correctional facility or its grounds; or into or around a secure care facility; National Parks; except for limited hunting privileges; having a firearm while participating in an "archery only" hunting season; possession of a firearm on a military base; on the gate side of airport passenger security checkpoints; or on a game refuge, without special written permission from the Arizona Game and Fish Commission.

You may, however, conceal a firearm without a concealed weapon permit in your residence, on your business premises, or on land you own or lease.

Event Liquor License

An application for a Liquor License for a special event must be requested from the Arizona State Department of Liquor Licenses and Control in Phoenix, 1-602-542-5141, and an application filed with the governing body of the city or town in which the event will be held or with the Yuma County Board of Supervisors Office, 1-928-373-1010, if the event is being held in an unincorporated area of the county.
