A benefit concert for a Yuma-area  teenager who died last weekend will be held Saturday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the Riverside Park just below the Yuma Territorial State Prison.

The benefit will pay tribute to David Turner Jr.'s life and character with performances by four bands, among them Dead Cow Road, Apollo's Groove and Mushrooms for a Day. Anybody who wishes to come and remember him is welcome.

Turner, 16, died May 23, and proceeds from the concert will go toward his burial and a program being started by his father to keep kids away from guns.

"To me, I'll play music all night long if kids can learn (about the dangers of playing with guns)," said Adam Andrews, bass player for Dead Cow Road and a friend of the family.

David's parents said he was a fun-loving kid who enjoyed baking, riding motorcycles, going to church and spending time with friends and family. They said he was a teenager who truly loved life.
